“I don’t need to do anything!” he snarls, stepping forward. “I only need her.”
Mikael can disguise it all he likes, but they’re bidding on people. Human beings. Whole lives, just like mine. Whole dreams. Girls with minds and hearts.
When I finally whisper, “And if I want to burn it all to the ground?” His answer is a quick grin against my lips. “My blade is yours.”
His burning eyes focus on me where I stand. “And thus… ends… our lesson,” he pants, then grins through bloodied teeth. “What lesson?” “You have become… ruthless, after all.”
