Here is part of a poem written in it, and dated ‘November 1915, March 1916’. No translation survives, although the words Lasselanta (‘leaf-fall’, hence ‘Autumn’) and Eldamar (the ‘elvenhome’ in the West) were to be used by Tolkien in many other contexts: Ai lintulinda Lasselanta Pilingeve suyer nalla ganta Kuluvi ya karnevalinar V’ematte singi Eldamar.
