From this point forward Austen’s novels remained in circulation with readers through numerous popular reprints—as documented by another book collector, the scholar Janine Barchas, who hunted down cheap, beat-up, and well-marked copies of these humble and fascinating productions in The Lost Books of Jane Austen (2019).
