Death was a curious thing. Planned or unplanned, mitigated or unmitigated, cruel or comfortable, it was the only universal truth that everyone lied about.
People, especially those coming from the families that attended this university, loved their gossip like they loved nothing else. Anything that diverted their attention from their own hollow lives and offered distraction was welcomed.
