One can begin to see why historians would not look too kindly on Einsteinian space-time, why they might want to ignore the advances of theoretical physics, pretend, in effect, they never happened. Reality has fundamentally changed beneath their feet, but best not to look. Just keep walking on the surface of things, pretending that history is purely linear, that causality only works in one direction.
