Mathematics is, by far, the most effective symbolic system ever discovered between these two epistemic domains. Numbers are “psychoid,” as Carl Jung put it in his own neologism. They are mental, but they most accurately describe and even predict the behavior and structure of the material world: “the sought-after borderland between physics and psychology lies in the secret of the number.”
