“What’s your favorite food?” she asked, out of nowhere. “Um…” I rubbed my chin and thought about it. “To be real, I don’t even think I have one. All I know is you the best thing I’ve eaten so far,” I said, licking my lips.
“We are a thing,” he said, kissing the side of my neck. “Besides, a wolf don’t concern himself with the opinions of sheep.”
“I know, son. I know,” I said, cradling his head. “And I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.” I held him tightly as he sobbed into my chest and I promised myself that I would never take him for granted again. “There’s still time though,” I told him. “There’s still time for me to do things the right way and I want to, son. I wanna be there for you. I want us to have a bond. I wanna teach you the game and I want you to have it all, son. You deserve to have it all.”
