Okay, so I was checking up on her. I wanted to make sure no one was saying or doing anything to her that would hurt her or piss me off.
She was not going to let me say no. And letting her do something for me would make her happy, which would make me happy. This was one of those stupid compromises she’d been talking about.
“Yes!” She threw her arms around my neck and pressed a noisy kiss to my cheek. I realized I’d be willing to say yes to a lot of things if it always got that reaction out of her.
Her party hat was askew on top of those thick, loose curls that I loved. But it was her smile that hit me the hardest. She was bone-deep happy. And it was just for me. It was all for me.
The renovations were stalled until Dom came home since the man forbade me from going over there alone. It was one little carpet tack puncture and a tetanus shot. Dom acted like I’d been held up at gunpoint.
I don’t want your money. I just want you.
I’m never getting over you, Ally. And I’m not going to try. My heart was yours from the pepperoni on.
“Baby, I don’t want a pizza. I want you,” he said dryly. “I want to tell you how fucking sorry I am for everything. I want to make it up to you. I want to demand another chance.”
“I love you, Ally.”
