“I don’t hate you, Ally.” His voice was quiet, gruff.
“I can’t afford to find you irresistible,” he said.
“Yes, Dom. I’m physically attracted to you. I imagine most women and plenty of men are.”
“Wait a second. Dom, are you saying you’re attracted to me?” I asked incredulously. He glared at me. “You’re not stupid, Ally.”
“I’m getting it wrong, or you’re saying it wrong?”
“I’m not a good guy, Ally. Remember that.”
He was in conversation with a mix of beautiful people, but he was looking at me.
“Listen to me, Ally. I don’t care if this is inappropriate or high-handed or controlling. You aren’t staying here. I’m not fucking around. And you’re not winning this one.”
