That night lived rent free in my head. She gave me some of the best pussy I’d ever sampled, and I hadn’t seen her since.
“I appreciate that, big dawg. Shit been rough lately. Me and my lady ain’t been seeing eye to eye. The label is trying to push me and Imani together. Just a lot of shit been on my head.”
Just from his vague statement, I gathered that he’d either fucked her or they shared some sort of intimacy. It definitely wasn’t innocent, but that wasn’t my business.
My eyes scanned the crowd for Raheem. I found him in a corner talking to Imani and looking around suspiciously like he wasn’t trying to get caught by Rhythm. Imani didn’t look happy at all. He seemed like he was trying to calm her down to avoid making a scene. I watched as he leaned in and whispered something in her ear. Her face seemed to soften.

“You realize that you don’t have to accept the versions of people who no longer align with who you are, right? People change and grow at different paces. Sometimes you outgrow them, even if you love them. Don’t get so comfortable having people in your life that you don’t know when it’s time to remove them.”
Fans were eating him up. They called him stupid for cheating on Rhythm with Imani. Imani was beautiful, but she couldn’t hold a candle to Rhythm.
“What’s funny?” “The fact that he called you about me and I’m sitting here with you.”
I was just counting down the moments until somebody went running their mouth to him about us. The feeling in my gut told me that it was going to be soon.
Nobody was gonna check me about a single woman.
She had pictures of him at her house and his, pictures of them in his car, gifts he’d bought her, and all types of shit.
All the women I loved most seemed to love her, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
“To my beautiful wife… damn I’m lucky to have you.”
