Unless a fae was an experienced healer, we only shared magic if we found our mate.
Gray eyes the color of storm clouds met mine, causing my heart to quicken. They were so familiar, yet I couldn’t place them. Still, they spoke to something deep inside me.
“She’s your girl?” Sexy Man chuckled darkly. “The one I’ve been searching for almost half my life.”
anyone. It had never appealed to me, so seeing me like this had her grinning widely. I’d kill her if she didn’t stop since he could see both of us.
“My name’s Lira.” I motioned to my sister. “This is Eiric.” “Lovely names. They sound as if they’re from another world.” He bowed faintly. “I’m Tavish.”
“I can stay with her.” Tavish smiled, becoming more breathtaking. “No one else will talk to her or touch her while you’re gone.”
It would be four minutes. Nothing could possibly go wrong in that short amount of time.
My body jerked with his as our descent slowed, and understanding crashed into me. He had wings. I blinked, taking in his massive wingspan. The leathery onyx wings glistened magically,
“I have plans for you. Your parents will answer for their crimes against mine.”
“I’ll let you have that one because you don’t remember not to thank a fae. Next time, I won’t be so kind, and you will owe me.”
I’d always found her cute, but now … now she was— I halted my thoughts. Her beauty didn’t mean a blasted thing to me. I’d brought her here for one thing only. Vengeance.
Lira’s body leaned into mine, catching me off guard. She should have known better than to trust me like that. She was here because of me.
Our faces were mere inches apart, and his scent filled my nose, making me dizzy. I didn’t understand how I could have such a reaction to him when he meant me harm. “I should’ve killed him.” His arm tightened around me.
the threat didn’t bother me like it should have. A part of me almost liked it. That must be because of all the unprocessed trauma I’d gone through.
Placing a hand on either side of me so that I was trapped between his arms, he lowered his face to mine, our foreheads touching. He then whispered, “There would be no forcing about it.”
“Already desperate to kiss me, sprite?” He smirked and lowered his head closer. Yeah, my dumb ass was, but thankfully, my head decided to scream louder … barely.
And if he’d been with hundreds, I didn’t want to consider how many Tavish had been with. Not that I cared or anything.
“I vow to you, Lira. Even though I find you extremely appealing, you are one with whom I will never succumb to my urges.” Ah, yes, here the insults came. “Because I’m Seelie?” “No, that’s not why.” He winked. “I can make any type of woman scream.
“I made it clear that she’s mine. No one else’s.” The words had left my mouth before I could take them back. That sounded an awful lot like claiming, but I didn’t give a damn. She was mine to do with as I wished. Not his.
she jutted her chin, which made me want to kiss her and make her quiver. I wanted to be the one to make her fall apart.
Eldrin waved a hand at her. “She’s supposed to be miserable.” “Oh, believe me, I am.” Lira glowered. “I have to sit here with you, for one.”
“You won’t be with Finnian or anyone else,” he growled. “I couldn’t handle it, sprite. We have enough stacked against us—don’t make things harder than they need to be.” His face softened, and he released his hold, his hand running down my arm. “Please.”
Fate won’t allow him to kill you, especially with his own hands.”
“I forgot what that sounded like.” He reached over and tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear. “As a young boy, I always loved the sound of your laughter.”
“If we die now, I swear I’ll find a way to bring you back just so I can kill you with my bare hands, night fiend.” The insult rolled off my tongue, though I didn’t remember hearing it before. Lorne laughed, startling me.
pounded, and my hands clenched as my vision tunneled. The rest of the world faded from view except for the way he held her against his chest, cradling her the way only I was allowed to do.
I’d rather be stabbed repeatedly than see her this way.
I groaned. “Blighted abyss, sprite,” Tavish gritted out. “We’re both going to be in misery if you keep making those noises.”
Do you know how hard it was to walk away when you were naked in front of me?” He laughed. “When I say hard, I mean it was in all ways.”
His eyes homed in on my lips, and he lowered his mouth to mine. Everything in me wanted this to happen, but I found the strength to lean back and place a hand on his chest. “No. Not like this.” His irises darkened, and he frowned. “Why? Is there someone else?” His arms tightened around my waist. “Is it Lorne?”
“Lira,” he whispered. The raspy cadence rolled off his tongue like a song, and he kissed me.
“Calm down because, if you don’t, I won’t be able to give you the night you deserve.” He chuckled and lifted his head.
“You saved my wings one too many times,” Lorne answered tightly. “I owe you, and that’s something I don’t take lightly.”
