I’m not a cat person. I’m not even a dog person. Truthfully, I don’t think I’m a people person either.
All I know is that somehow, between the moment she cornered me in the arena bathroom and now, she’s become my favorite thing in the world.
“I want you to look at me while I praise you, because it’s what you need.” He pauses. “Especially from your husband.”
She doesn’t need me to fight her battles, but I’ll gladly do so anyway.
I place my hand on her thigh as she stares out the window, silently letting her know that I’m here if she needs me. Except, I’m not entirely sure that she’ll ever really need me. And if she does, I don’t think she’ll admit it.
“I was trying to give you space earlier.” He grips my chin and brings me to look at him. “But you don’t need space.” He pauses. “You need me.”
Who would have thought that a simple marriage of convenience with a feisty woman who tried to exploit me in the arena bathroom would turn into this?
