“My name is Brooke.” He takes my hand, and a warm zip of electricity bolts through me. “Lev.” “It’s nice to meet you,” I say, the heat of his gaze skimming along my skin like sunshine. “And what about you—are you heading to New York for business or pleasure?” He smiles, and it’s devastating. “Business.” A wicked gleam burns in those dark eyes as he drops his gaze to my lips. “But now I’m thinking it might be pleasure.”
“Don’t hide from me,” he says, his voice a deep rumble. “You have no reason to.”
He likes what he sees. It’s written all over his face and burns bright in his eyes. And fuck, it feels good to feel wanted right now.
“Now, will you tell me where you’re taking me?” I ask, wiping the back of my hand across my lips. He thinks for a moment before fixing those dark eyes to mine. “Somewhere private and quiet.” He lifts an eyebrow. “Where no one can hear you scream.”
“Now I know the only person who would’ve received anything real that night was you. Because all you gave me was a big pile of bullshit.”
