This is what we’ve done with hell. We’ve made it a tourist trap. The Enemy has tricked us into thinking he’s some kind of villain in a Marvel movie, or a chubby cherub selling tacos. In reality, he’s the mastermind behind every rape, every murder, and every kind of evil. Including the evil you do. Even the evil you’re blind to, because you’ve tricked yourself into thinking, It’s not that bad. In doing so, you’ve partnered with the Prince of Darkness and invited him to be your friend, knowingly or not.

Recently I read about a biosphere where a group of scientists had created a perfect environment to grow certain plants and trees. One thing they found was that the trees in this environment—complete with the perfect soil, amount of sunlight, and watering—grew up at a rapid pace. But then they fell over. They set out to discover why that happened, and I thought their conclusion was fascinating. Why did they topple over? There was no wind in the biosphere and so the trees were never tested.

This fragmented thinking leads us to a false, unbiblical version of Christianity. It’s hobby Christianity. Real Christianity—when you have truly encountered Jesus—changes everything. It influences how you date, who you marry, how you love your spouse, how you parent, how you work, what you say, how you dress, where you go, what you purchase . . . it influences all of that.
