“Please don’t tell me you’re stalking her.” Bash smirks like he already knows the answer. “I guess it depends on what qualifies as a stalking.” Bash huffs out a breath. “Yeah, I don’t think it’s that complicated. Probably one of those things where if you have to ask, you’re definitely doing it.”

I deserve better than some guy who only cares about me when he wants to. I want to be someone’s everything.

There must be something wrong with me because that screams red flag, but instead, my heart is pounding in my chest that this man took the time to care.

“I like you like this.” “Like what?” I ask, still breathless. “Happy.”

“I’m…on birth control,” I stammer. “I hate to break it to you, but you’ve never taken birth control a day in your life. It was easy enough to switch them to sugar pills and recently to prenatal.”

“I’m so fucking serious, Little Sparrow. If I can’t feel the pulse of your heart, you’re not close enough.”

“You’re pretty. Do you want to go on a date?” I choke on a laugh. “We’re married.” “No way? Really? I must be pretty lucky.”
