He dips his head to my ear so only I can hear him, and I can’t stop my shiver when he says, “I’ve caught you, Little Sparrow.”
Is it fair to Scarlet? No. Do I care? Fuck no.
“She told you she didn’t want to hear about it until she was at least twenty-five. That if someone was truly interested in her, they’d be willing to wait.”
“So, what are you saying? You’ve been waiting for her?” “Ten fucking years, Damon. Her time’s almost up.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” “That my Little Sparrow is about to be mine.”
“Can I go?” The hope in his eyes is pathetic. “Don’t be stupid.” I chuckle before landing a punch into his temple, hard enough to make him see stars. “You’re not going anywhere.”
“Are you purposely making me jealous?” “Are you actually crazy?”
There is a half-inch vertical incision held together with surgical tape. I glare at him. “What the hell did you do to me?” “It’s a tracker.” “You cannot be serious.” “I’m so fucking serious. You attract trouble like a magnet.”
“I don’t think you have any idea how devastatingly in love with you I am.
“I’m not asking you, Matthias. This is my job. You promised to lift me up and not lock me away.” “Did I?” he huffs. “That doesn’t sound like me.”
