You might say my obsession has become a compulsion in the way I need to know everything about Scarlet Laurent.
He dips his head to my ear so only I can hear him, and I can’t stop my shiver when he says, “I’ve caught you, Little Sparrow.”
Dressing her has been one of the small indulgences I’ve allowed myself. Spoiling my girl even before she’s mine. Seeing her wear something that I’ve picked out has become an addiction. I’ve spent hours meticulously choosing each item to perfectly suit her.
I’ve learned she midnight bakes when something’s bothering her. That she prefers oversized T-shirts to pajamas. Luckily for her, she receives some for Christmas every year. I make sure to wear each one so they smell like me, and I’ve caught her lifting them to her nose more than once.
“So, what are you saying? You’ve been waiting for her?” “Ten fucking years, Damon. Her time’s almost up.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” “That my Little Sparrow is about to be mine.”
She marches right up to me, hands on her hips. To anyone watching, they’d see the adoration written across my face, but she’s blind to it. She’s sexy as fuck, standing inches away, chest heaving with her breaths. It’s clear she came here for a reason, and I’m dying to find out what my Scarlet needs.
She passes me a folder that’s filled with documentation. I glance at them briefly, already familiar with the document. Hacking into Scarlet’s computer and watching her work has been one of my favorite hobbies.
Damon: Did one of you assholes buy a law firm? Me: I bought Scarlet’s law firm. Bash: Damn Matthias, you’re just like Damon. Xander: I hope it’s not fucking contagious.
He drops his forehead to mine, our breaths mixing together, and smirks. “I haven’t come in my pants since high school.” Shock rocks through me. “You what?” His smirk turns into a smile. “You haven’t said my name in over a decade. I couldn’t help it.” He nuzzles his nose against mine. “Say it again.”
A glimmer of an idea filters through on just how fun it would be to press Matthias’s buttons. What the hell is wrong with me? Matthias is a sea of red flags, and I don’t have a boat.
Not to mention, I doubt that man can deny you anything.” “You do realize he drugged me, handcuffed me, then brought me here against my will and forced me to marry him, right?” She looks me up and down with a smile growing on her face. “You’ve got to admit, it’s sorta romantic.” I collapse on the sofa beside her, positioning my legs to mirror hers. “Sure, in a weird Stockholm syndrome kind of way.”
