Our Infinite Fates

“Like the sway of the sea and the tug of the tides, love is a moving, eternal thing. Let us not be afraid of the wax and the wane, the rise and the fall, the eternal undertow. Each time our souls meet, let us submerge our bodies in the bright blue cold, and let the waves make us anew.” A tear slid down the apple of her cheek. “I love you, and I have loved you, and I will love you.”

Instead I said, “You piss me off, you know that?” He chuckled bitterly. “I love you too.”

The cruelest fate the gods and stars had ever written: the person I loved most in the world was the person who would ultimately destroy me.

I will always be yours. But I gave up the right to call you mine a long time ago.

“I’ve loved you for longer than most people can even fathom, but still I have no idea what goes through your head.”
