“Finally. Let’s eat our feelings.” … My feelings tasted pretty good with a side of guac and sour cream.
The food looked delicious, but it was the smell coming from the pot that I couldn’t resist. I picked it up, my eyes rolling back as I inhaled the rich, earthy aroma of fresh coffee. “Should I leave you two alone?” he asked. My gaze flicked up to him. “Take your clothes off, and you can join us.”
I hadn’t spent all these years waiting for the right man to take me to bed. I understood now why it had never felt right before. I was never meant for a man. I’d been waiting for a god. I’d been waiting for him.
Midnight hung like a portrait in the window, the moon shining brightly in an unusually clear sky.
“It’s not funny. It hurt.” A giggle escaped her. The creature calmed at the sound and settled back around its prize. “Sorry, but you basically just told me you have a grouchy dragon hoarding treasure inside you.”
“I wouldn’t dare. Stake through my heart, I swear.”
“All I am, I give to you. I swear to be your protector, your lover, your best friend as long as we walk this earth. For over nine hundred years, I sought some meaning in this world, and now I’ve finally found it. You. You are the meaning. You are the reason. And you are the answer. I am honored to be your mate, I am honored to tether my soul to yours, and I am honored to become your husband.”
