She gave Carter Reed hope that he could be happy; that he deserved something good regardless of all the bad he’d done.
I’m in love with a killer and not making any excuses for it.
Women and children were never an option for redemption or justice.
He was all ‘look at my bomb ass girlfriend who I don’t deserve’ and you were all ‘this nigga doesn’t match my fly or make me cum.’”
“My exact fucking point. Men take care of home. You are my home, McKenna. Whether we’re together or not, you will always be good.”
“Names aren’t important. Your identity is in your bloodline. You’re mine, Carter, not just in name, never forget that.”
“You’re my life support, Kenni. I need you.”
I can’t fucking live without you and I don’t want to.
“If you choose to love him, do so unconditionally. Don’t try to change him. Men like my husband and Carter are unique. They have to be to survive in a morally gray world. I don’t know what goes on in his head most days but it’s not for me to understand. My only job is to love him in a way that brings Kohen the peace he needs. Peace that allows him to remain balanced. This world is a twisted and dark existence but this life and my role as his wife is what I’ve accepted.
“Wait, if you tell me we’re here to see your mystery child in a rec basketball game I’m gonna fucking murder you.”
He was devilishly handsome and the infant he had propped on his shoulder only added to the attraction. “Who’s that?” “Ezekiel Omari. The man you donated my money to, so stop eye fucking him before there is a fatherless child out here in the world.”
“The Ammo Killer is a stupid name, by the way. Not sexy at all. And you’re very sexy.”
If my parents taught me anything about marriage and relationships it was to keep your personal affairs private. It’s nobody’s business but your own.”
His heart in human form. A living, breathing replica of the very thing that kept him alive. She was his lifeline, his life source, and knowing this only made him understand just how fucking lethal he had the potential to be.
“I know you’re capable but that doesn’t mean you can’t depend on me. I may not have magic hands but I have logic when you’re irrational. I have calmness when you’re a raging storm. I’m the light to your dark. Protecting someone isn’t always physical, Carter. I can’t shoot a gun but I can cover your emotional wellbeing.”
