Countries are like families. As parents, the needs of our own children are paramount. We seek to keep them safe and help to meet their needs. This doesn’t mean we don’t want these things for the children of other families. It doesn’t mean we hate our neighbors or view ourselves as inherently superior. It doesn’t preclude us from helping those in need or being hospitable to visitors. But it does mean that we will be careful about whom we allow into our homes and how long we allow them to stay.
