Christians reject this view. We know that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19). Yet even for non-Christians, the body has both temporal and eternal significance. God dictates what bodies we have and how our bodies are supposed to function, and promises to resurrect and redeem the bodies of his faithful without sickness, pain, or decay (1 Cor. 15:42–45).
