Because whether we like it or not, one day the arrows will be pointed toward us. It may be one or it may be a thousand, but if we are faithful in defending God’s design for marriage and the family, we will catch heat, and perhaps even suffer great loss because of our stance. It may be painful, but it should also be expected. Joy-filled hardship is the normal state of the Christian life. Second Timothy 3:12 promises that “all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” When the day comes, we’ll want others to share arrows with us just as we did for them.
