As always, toxic empathy and truth-filled love are at an impasse. It’s a choice between making ourselves and others feel good and doing what is truly good. It’s a lie that the only way to show love to a person who identifies as gay is to celebrate their choices and affirm their sexuality. We can—and must—love them by telling them the truth.
