Women in the West generally support one another in their resistance, but it’s important to note that in societies that are highly patriarchal and highly misogynist, women rarely support one another. Each woman is too concerned with saving her own skin to be concerned about any other woman’s skin. This is by design, of course. If women are too busy viewing one another as competition—as their husbands can marry up to four women—then there is no threat that they will work together against the common enemy.
