Girls are how the level of a man’s, or his family’s, honour is measured. The more control he has over his wife and daughters, the more honourable he is. It is his responsibility to guard his family’s honour by making sure the women in the family dress modestly by covering themselves up in hijab, and that they act honourably by keeping their voices low, keeping their eyes cast downward, by being demure.
