She had become a nightmare, whispered about behind locked doors; the girl with the face of a deity and a soul drenched in sin.
“Tell me it’s me, Vesper. Spill your pretty heart and tell me that I’m the one you want bringing you to ruin. I want to hear you say it, I want you to remember the words whenever you think of this and know that your destruction was entirely what you desired.”
“Make me a traitor, Cayde,” I demanded, my fingers clasping the nape of his neck, tangling in the strands of dark hair there, nails raking against his skin. “You’re the damnation I choose for myself and if the stars will see me ruined for it then make sure it’s fucking worth it.”
“If that is what destruction tastes like, I’ll gladly become a glutton for your poison.”
And despite all the reasons I had to hate her for what and who she was, I couldn’t help but hope that she found her copper-eyed Fae beyond that door because I’d tasted her desire and it had been so fucking sweet, it hurt.
