What the women in my life taught me about men is that keeping your dignity and respect intact is the top priority.

The worst thing you can do in a relationship is lose yourself so much that you allow someone to disrespect or disregard you.

I learned that men show women that they’re special and appreciated with actions, not words. If a man truly loves you, you should have something to show for it. My mom was my first example of this.

Mr. Wonderful was so committed to his family that he never officially divorced my mom. He had veteran benefits that he wanted my mom to receive. She was the only woman he ever really loved, and he didn’t trust anyone else to handle his affairs in life or after. He respected her enough to support her moving on, and she handled that process with just as much grace.

I’ve never been good at asking for help or talking through my feelings. I usually try to deal with them on my own until I’m irritated or pissed off, then it’s too late.

We decided to call it a wrap. I just hate that the moment that brought us to that point happened in public, instead of at home where it should have been handled.

She’s become known for her big single and hating me. All I can do at this point is pray for her peace. I can’t imagine how much of her energy has been used to keep that kind of animosity going for so long.
