“I’ve been playing my entire life, Elora.”
“Don’t mistake survival for weakness, Elora. It doesn’t all look the same.”
“Are you frightened, little doe?”
“Don’t punish him. I am torturing him enough by marrying the woman he loves.”
“Wagon, Elora. If not, I’ll fucking carry it all the way back.”
“Oh, little doe, you don’t know the meaning of the word.” Leaning in, I whisper in her ear, “I know ways to make even the gods turn crimson.”
A red patch of skin with bite marks shines boldly. I slide my arm over Elora’s shoulders. “Accompany another man alone and see what happens, Elora. That’s only a warning.” She sighs in satisfaction. “Work on your threats.”
“For you, my darling, I would kill him with my bare hands.”
A deep, bone-chilling voice calls from the cave entrance, “I wouldn’t finish that sentence if I were you.” Finnian steps inside, his fists clenched at his sides and his darkened stare pinned to Cedric. “And I suggest you get your fucking hand off my wife.”
