The Wraith was Euclid, Crown Prince of Aeternalis.
“I will not touch you,” he responded breathily, and she gasped as she felt his hot tongue drag across her neck. He pulled her against him and she stiffened as she felt his hardening member pressing into her backside. “I will not touch you, wife, until you beg me for it.”
“Stay low, get to the tree line. Hide. I will find you,” he whispered loudly, his breath hot and rapid in her ear. There was something in his voice that she hadn’t heard before; fear.
Emmeline found herself released from his grip, but he kept his hands on the side of her face as he looked her over. “Are you hurt? Did they fucking touch you?”
“Because ‘loqui animus ad mentem’ translates roughly ‘to speak mind to mind’. It’s the sign of the anima ligatum. Soul mates, soul bonded.” she paused, opening her eyes to see Sasha’s confused look, bordering on scared, “The thing that the prince doesn’t want me to know is that soul mates can hear each other’s thoughts–can talk to each other.”
“Then let me tell you what I want, human. I want to sink myself inside you until we can’t discern where you end and I begin. I want to taste you in the throes of ecstasy, feel your skin underneath my fingers. Feel your heartbeat against where my dead one lays. I want to see if you taste like you smell.”
“I don’t want you to be quiet when I have you. I want to hear you screaming my name, wife.”
“It has nothing to do with any deity, Emmeline. It’s because I have loved you since the moment you nearly ran me through with that little silver knife of yours that night. Because I saw your spirit in those woods before I ever heard your voice. Your soul recognized mine before we ever spoke.” He brushed a soft kiss to her lips. “And I am forever bound to you. My body,” he pressed a kiss to her hairline. “My blood.” A kiss to her nose. “My very soul is yours for as long as you’ll have it.”
“Such a good girl. Ready for me.”
“Then I’ll say it, I love you. I loved you for months. Enough to destroy my kingdom, or yours, just for a chance to be with you. I’d rather my entire family dynasty burn to the ground in front of me than risk losing you. Even when you hated me.” He kissed her, fire on his tongue and the bite of his fangs against her skin. “I’m no pacifist, rabbit. That was beaten out of me too long ago. I did it all for you. And I always will.”
She loved him. She had fallen in love with her husband. Emmeline had fallen desperately, unquestionably, and fervently in love with the vampire prince.
“Because I will raze that city to the ground. I will let it burn just so you can
bath in the warmth of its flames. I will do anything you ask of me.”
