"It has nothing to do with any deity, Emmeline. It's because I have loved you since the moment you nearly ran me through with that little silver knife of yours that night. Because I saw your spirit in those woods before I ever heard your voice, your soul recognized mine before we ever spoke." He brushed a soft kiss to her lips. "And I am forever bound to you. My body," he pressed a kiss to her hairline. "My blood." A kiss to her nose. "My very soul is yours for as long as you'll have it."
"Then I'll say it: I love you. I loved you for months—enough to destroy my kingdom, or yours, just for a chance to be with you. I'd rather my entire family dynasty burn to the ground in front of me than risk losing you. Even when you hated me." He kissed her, fire on his tongue and the bite of his fangs against her skin. "I'm no pacifist, rabbit. That was beaten out of me long ago. I did it all for you. And I always will."
“And all the tomorrows after, little rabbit.”
