Remember the last horror show you sent my way?” Max asks. “The guy was in a cult.” “He was not.” I wave him off. “He was trying to recruit me! You would not be laughing right now if I’d actually ended up wherever Oracles of Supreme Awakening is based at, and you would’ve had to swoop in on a rescue helicopter to save me. Of course, I would’ve been brainwashed by then, and you would’ve had your work cut out for you trying to convince me to leave my new cult husband and our future cult babies, Hephzibah and Ezekiel.”

I think it seems like I’m more impulsive than I really am because my brother and sister have their shit together, and I’m just waffling around. Seb: I never did the waffling around part. Just straight from point A to point B. J: Are you… bragging? Seb: No. I’m saying, embrace the waffle.

“Who says I’m not?” “Yeah, hiding behind a potted plant in the corner just screams ‘I’m open to a friendly chat.’”

“Really? I wasn’t aware you calling me and asking me if I had died in the copy room or if I had just gotten lost was meant to be a compliment. Nor is it a compliment to loudly wonder if you should wait until the body has been discovered to post the job ad.”

That’s the thing with Jamie. When I’m with him, I feel good. When I’m with him, I don’t feel out of place. When I’m with him, I feel comfortable in my own skin. He takes me the way I am, and I do the same.

Real romance is made up of everyday moments. It’s laughing together at inside jokes only the two of you understand. It’s hugs after a shitty day and having somebody in your corner even when you screw up. It’s talking about your day over dinner and creating traditions for the two of you. It’s arguing and making up. It’s being together through thick and thin, glorious days and boring moments because your life is better with him.”
