“I want to see you like this for eternity.” A soft lick above my navel. “I want to memorize every freckle.” A scrape of teeth along my hip bone. “Tell me you want me too.”
He kisses my lips and throat and breasts like I’m the treasure he’s been scouring the earth for.
This feels permanent and inevitable, like we’ve been hurtling toward each other all along and are finally about to reach the point of impact.
“I love seeing you in my clothes. Wear them every day.”
Throughout dinner, I can’t keep my eyes from drifting to her. We’ve had a handful of meals together in this room, but today it feels completely new. Like I’m seeing things clearly through a new pair of glasses after years of blurry vision. And I want to see this view forever.
“I can’t believe you called my dad for his soup recipe,” she whispers against my chest. “I can’t believe you think I wouldn’t.”
“How much free space do you have?” “For you, I’d make room for anything. Everything,”
“Do you think the girls are okay with me staying here?” He leaves kisses along my jaw and cheek, and a hum of pleasure slips out. “Those girls are planning a wedding and babies already. I’d say they’re on board with a sleepover.”
A realization that this is what love looks like. It’s mutual respect, where I can stand on my own, and he encourages me to do so. It’s the feeling that we’re fine without each other, but a million times better with each other. It’s blooming and thriving with someone else and caring for the person next to you because seeing their flowers grow makes your world even more extraordinary.
“You wanted the girls to have grandparents.” “I do. And I’m pretty sure your parents are obsessed with the idea.”
“You must really like stargazing.” He shakes his head. “Fuck the stars, baby. All I see is you.”
