She always wanted to be browsing the shelves of a bookstore.
Noah had the hots for Hazel Kelly. It surprised him almost as much as it seemed to surprise her, but he did.
She looked in the mirror and found the same reflection she’d seen in high school.
She couldn’t go back and change the past and she didn’t want to, not really. But in the months leading up to her birthday, she wanted to step outside herself. To let go. To be young and fun and twenty-something before it was too late.
The books were the key to her adventure. It was time she started paying attention.
Hazel didn’t say things unless she meant them.
‘I always bring a book, just in case.’
He wanted to listen to Hazel talk more about books because he loved it when she did that.
Maybe they loved him even if all he ever had was an old boat and some crazy ideas. Maybe Hazel could too...
