She always wanted to be browsing the shelves of a bookstore.
Her twenties had been ... calm? Responsible? Boring. Hazel had essentially been in her thirties since she was fifteen.
Hazel marched over to the Romance section to fix the book and possibly give it a piece of her mind because she was that kind of crazy lady today.
She wanted to say more. That he was a breath of fresh air in her musty life, that he was slowly reminding her how to let go, that he was waking her up like the sun after a long winter.
A cool breeze came in off the water and made the day comfortable instead of hot and Hazel could almost feel fall heading her way. Change was coming soon.
Hazel didn’t say things unless she meant them. It made everything she said that much more important.
She was curled over the bar top, her intense gaze focused on the book in front of her. Hazel had brought a book to the pub. Of course she had.
He needed to kiss her, he needed to stop all these beautiful and wonderful words spilling from her mouth because he couldn’t take them all in. He needed to slow them down. He wanted to explore them one by one, slowly. He wanted to put them on his windowsill like secret treasures. Hazel Kelly thought he’d made something beautiful.
He’d read just one more chapter and then deal with his own shit...
Because what more did one need besides good friends, good books, and the occasional cinnamon bun?
