Another of those reasons why I was into him. It was clear he could take care of himself and any bad business that came his way, so in the end, if you were his, he could take care of you. No one had ever taken care of me. Not ever. In my entire life.
“Something else you should know about Jack and Rose.” I tensed at this intro, but prompted, “What?” when he said no more. “Jack did the right thing. Not because he was a guy, and she was a woman. But because he cared about her, and he gave everything just for a shot that she’d make it out alive.”
“I really do because I think you finally get I’m interested in you. I want to get to know you better. And to do that, I want to spend time with you, and that time shouldn’t have you wondering why my ex is texting me.”
“I want the woman in my life to be happy. That’s it. I don’t care what you do to be that way, just as long as I’m a part of it. Now, back to this fuckin’ guy.”
She feeds off negative attention. It’s her drug of choice.
“I don’t want to overshare,” I told her. “But it hasn’t even been a week, and I’m a little freaked how into him I am.”
“I just like the view of my woman in my shirt.”
“She makes me happy. And not only because, when I’m around her, I don’t feel the need to exhaust myself by dancing attendance. It’s easy. It’s quiet. She makes me laugh. Our lives fit into each other’s rather than Jess making me feel like mine is a burden and her life has to be my everything when she allows me a part in it. Every day, she does something to make me feel like I matter to her, or just matter at all. She’s honest. She shares. She’s not about bullshit.
