“Well, is that your cat?” “Poe belongs to me as much as he belongs to anyone else, I imagine.”

Kneeling behind her, Blackwell expertly unlaced her corset, pulling the ribbons free and loosening the boned contraption enough to tug it over her head and throw it off to the side. Next, he tore at the linen buttons down the back of her chemise, sending the small pieces clattering over the floor. The dress was discarded with the corset, as well as the remaining threat of her flesh melting off her bones.
Wait, if he's able to snap his fingers to remove/ change his clothes and her clothes, why didn't he do that when she has acid on her clothes?
“Every time I allow you to get hurt, the bond unravels a little. Eventually, it will make it harder to hear when you summon me. That could have been catastrophic.” “Oh,” she breathed. “Why didn’t you tell me that little detail before?”
My thoughts exactly. Any other news you'd like to share, Blackwell? Now would be the fucking time.
But this explains why he couldn't just magic her acid clothes away.
“Or would you like me to show you instead?” Ophelia wasn’t sure what was coming over her. His intoxicating proximity, the last three days of near-death experiences, or maybe it was the fact that witnessing so much lust tonight made her realize she’d never once come close to feeling that way about anyone. She desperately wanted to feel passion, even if it was only for a moment. And the way Blackwell set her nerves on fire made her certain he’d be the perfect one for the task. “Show me,” she implored.
The Devil was wearing little more than a bolt of gold fabric strategically tied around their body and their platinum hair was so long it pooled on the ground at their bare feet.
The first devil was a man using masculine pronouns, the second was a woman using feminine pronouns, this devil is nonbinary

“If you let me up, I can take care of it.” The rain turned into a drizzle, the warm splashes of scarlet dying his hair pink, sliding down the bridge of her nose, running over more sensitive areas… Ophelia began moving against him again, and his brows shot up in utter shock. He quickly recovered and a devious smile slowly curled up at the corners of his mouth at her boldness. “Are you sure?” She shrugged and repeated his own words from earlier. “It’s only blood.”
Ophelia!
I'm guessing this is magic blood, not from a living being right? Or does hep not exist in this world 🤔 took me out of the fantasy 😂 it could've been mud or hot rain or lube or cold milk or lemonade for all I cared but nope, it's a blood shower.
Nvm if it was mud, milk, or lemonade, I'd complain about yeast.

“Damn it,” she seethed before chanting Blackwell’s name. She loathed that she needed him to get her out of here. Except that he didn’t come. She tried summoning him again. No response. Again. No response. No, this can’t be happening. Why isn’t he coming? Where is he? The Shadow Voice cackled. This is what you deserve, foolish girl. Why don’t you try smashing the windows?
She focused her attention back to the walls around her, resisting the urge to summon Blackwell for help. One, because there wasn’t enough room here for two people, even if one of them was a Ghost. And two, because she needed to start figuring things out for herself.
“You can command me to stop any time,” he told her sincerely. “I do not ever take anything that isn’t freely given—as is the nature of Devils and our bargains. Do you understand?” A single nod. “No,” he told her. “I want to hear you verbalize it. Do you understand that you can tell me to stop, and I will?”

Charlotte and Ophelia didn’t respond. Charlotte because she most likely didn’t want to hear any more from Cade, or in shock that the man was showing care for someone beyond himself for the first time. By the way he’d spoken to Luci, no one could have ever guessed he’d feel the need to defend her honor.
“Alright,” Blackwell began without preamble, “I’m going to have to go back to the Other Side in order to see what they are choosing. Don’t touch a single token until I return.”
I'm surprised this isn't thought of as cheating or the Devils haven't ousted that Ophelia is still getting help. Where's the transparency in this rigged game 😆
