Varias Caras shoved the lighter into his mouth and then, before Ray could react, let go of his wrist and punched him in the mouth. The impact shattered the lighter while it was still inside of Ray’s mouth. Plexiglas went shooting through the inside of his mouth. One piece got lodged into his tongue, a few others pierced through his tongue and cheeks. But it was the two pieces he swallowed that did the most damage. Their jagged edges shredded up the inside of his throat as they went down before getting stuck.

Somehow, Noelle knew Wayne was smiling because he was reunited with his brother. But more than that, he was elated that his older brother had come to get revenge for him. It didn’t matter to the kid that his brother had failed and been killed because his brother was his one true hero, and while he’d been dead and wandering through the woods, he’d wondered if Gavin even cared that he’d died. The fact that his brother had put himself in danger had been answer to that question. And now, at last, his soul was at ease.

The last one standing. Not the final girl. No, this time she hadn’t just survived the cannibal. This time, she’d bested him. This was it. The final slaughter.
Anyway, this story is very much done. The legend has been told. If I did my job correctly, these books and these characters will live in your mind for years to come. And if I’m lucky, maybe your heart, too. —
