This is the first non-Biblical reference to Israel. Taken in conjunction with other evidence, such as calculations based on I Kings 6:1 and Judges 11:26,69 we can be reasonably sure that the Exodus occurred in the thirteenth century BC and had been completed by about 1225 BC.
