My head still pounded like it had been the past few weeks, but it was dimming.
The more I learned about what he was willing to do, the more I feared him. As the fear festered, so did my desire to push him to his limits.
Did he just whimper?
It brought me joy knowing I could make a creature like him mewl for me, beg for me without a single word.
Judging from the bulge, my body had not known pain until the day he decided to use that thing on me.
The thought of someone not being able to hold back their carnal craving for me made my heart lurch to my throat.
amusing. It seemed like fate that we shared the adoration of the same curious creature.
“Nothing is wrong. It’s poliosis. It affects the pigment of hair and skin,”
“I thought you had known him before that. You didn’t invite him?” She looked at me worriedly and said, “No, I assumed that it was someone you knew, since he knew your name and said he was supposed to meet you there.” “Phoebe, I met him the same day you did.” I frowned.
“I have never seen someone look at something as wretched as me only to be left in awe,”

“I want all of you, not just blood. I want every piece of flesh that clings to your bones and more. I want to own every expression that crosses that pretty face. Every hair on your head belongs to me, no part of it untouched by my hands.”
So much energy was dedicated to looking happy instead of actually being happy.
“You belong here, not in a stuffy house surrounded by people who don’t understand you.”
I will cut that smug look off your face and wear it at your funeral.
Though I find my calling in the spine.”
“Spinal fluid is almost as valuable as blood to the body, you know.”
“You said they were supposed to be for your—” “Mate,”
“But I’m—” “You are now.” He gave a satisfied hum. “Since when?” “Since I said so.” “And when was that?” “The moment you tried to poison me. The first time. I think the choice is fitting.”
That was the first time she’d kissed me. Truly kissed me.
