“Black is suitable for every occasion.” I grinned, entering as I greeted her.
“Besides, you can never be too prepared. What if a guest brings you to such anger that you smite them? I will be fashionably prepared for the occasion.”
Ignorance was expected, and I never blamed them. It is not a choice to be stupid, though I gave my best efforts to be sympathetic.
I chose to be a spectator this time. There was something comforting about people-watching.
Alcohol threatened to make a reappearance due to my inability to gauge my own limits.
“Our wager last time we spoke. You said you would give me a head start as a sign of good faith.” “What if I decided to pursue you in bad faith?” He cocked his head to the side.
I bit my tongue and glared, turning away and forcing myself to focus on another task other than him. He had proved to be quite an irritant already. Maybe if I ignored him, he would disappear—like a boogeyman.
Men, they were all the same. This one just happened to have an appetite for these things. It shall be no different than the rest. They all gave in and withered at my will, one way or another.
I would have strung them with hair from my last grand gesture, but I thought using yours would do perfectly well, a more personal touch. —Silas
You want to know what I want? I want you, Alina. All of you. Every hair on your head, every tear, laugh, and scream that rips from your delicate vocal cords will all become mine
While I said I would leave her alone, I would not let her out of my sight. Ever.
“You are so beautiful when you look out at the universe. I wonder what it would be like to be looked at with such adoration as you do at the unknown,” he whispered against my lips.
“There are more important things to chase than men. Men are plentiful. It is not hard to find them. Sometimes they even find you.”
“Shouldn’t we be keeping our distance?” “You know very well that I couldn’t do that any more than I could be a vegetarian.”
“You’re intelligent, a uniquely skilled killer, and beautiful beyond my wildest imagination. I think you would be good for my bloodline.”
“Just in case you needed convincing.” He looked at me through those angelic blond lashes, running his finger down my arm before intertwining our fingers. “I want all of you, not just blood. I want every piece of flesh that clings to your bones and more. I want to own every expression that crosses that pretty face. Every hair on your head belongs to me, no part of it untouched by my hands.”
I wanted more than to have her close. I wanted her to crawl under my skin and make a home out of my rib cage, for my heart would only beat for her. Not even a single pump of my atria was allowed if it was not for my dearest shadow, my chosen—my Alina
Her body was meant to be held by my hands, to be taken by only mine. If I had carved her from clay with my hands, I would be afraid of touching her again, fearing the perfection I had created—I imagined that was what God felt when making her, if he existed at all. I was so enamored. She had me understanding why people believed in such things.
“You are mine,” I whispered against her lips, a smirk forming as I slammed into her as hard as I could. “You will never be rid of me.”
I never thought I could reach the point of craving someone aside from a simple hunger. Starving for her would be more painful than any true hunger. I would rather perish. I was wholeheartedly, pathologically addicted to her.
My reliance on substances was not something I was forced to reckon with until now. Life was extremely blunt when you did not use anything to soften the blow.
