I can only fall in love with eyes that reveal the soul behind them, and there are too many lies written in the Marquis's green.
I am a mistake. I always have been one.
My head is about to explode. Since we started our descent, I can't think straight anymore. It hurts not to be on the same continent as Louise. I'm sick.
"There are many truths that I keep hidden from you. Because your heart would break at them."
It feels like you're the missing piece that completes my soul."
"You don't suffer from nightmares when you sleep near me, because you know that I will protect you everywhere - in this world and in any other, even if it's just a dream," he says, stroking my hair again. "You are the most precious thing I have ever held in my hands - and that means a lot."
"You are here because I want to show you that I will always find places where you're safe, no matter what happens. As long as you're married to me, I will take care of everything you need - and right now, that's peace and a hiding place from the world that has hurt you so deeply."
"I would always love you," I say softly. "And I would find you in every life," he replies.
"In another life, I would have given you the love you deserve. I'm sorry, Louise. I'm so sorry."
I didn't love her from the first moment, but when I started loving her, I knew it was forever.
"You saved the woman you love and lost her forever at the same time."
"I'm so sorry, Louise. I hate myself. You can't imagine how much. I knew I would lose you and still did it. Because I couldn't bear the thought of you dying." He collapses. "I would do it again. I would kill every person in this world if it meant you lived.”
