US and allied campaign planners may have to reckon with over a thousand ship targets, consisting of over three hundred PLA Navy “gray hull” warships, supported by hundreds more from China’s paramilitary coast guard, its “maritime militia,” and large and advanced ferries and civilian cargo ships that were designed to transport military vehicles and supplies across the Taiwan Strait.23
