US and allied attack submarines could assist the bombers’ counter-maritime campaign by focusing their torpedo attacks on the PLA Navy’s air defense cruisers, destroyers, and frigates, beginning with those warships operating east of Taiwan. About one hundred PLA warships are on this list.30 The submarines could also assist the bombers with Tomahawk land-attack missile strikes on PLA air defense targets.31
