Because there was nothing wrong with being a maid. Buildings had to be cleaned, after all, and food cooked, clothes washed, goods fetched. If maids and servants disappeared, the Realmhood would collapse overnight. I squirmed in my seat as the flagstone road bumped beneath us. None of it made sense. Since you are listening, let me ask you: If labor like mine is so crucial to the Realmhood, then why are workers like me treated so badly? And why do we put up with it?
