She was incandescently beautiful. The kind of beauty you hear of but never witness. The kind that crawls inside your mind and haunts you until it destroys everything and consumes your soul.
“I’ve recently decided I don’t like others touching my things, touching what’s mine.”
“You develop a taste for blood when you’re constantly licking your own wounds,”
“I am plagued by you.” Another light swipe of his tongue. “I am vexed with the thought of you constantly.”
“If you die tonight and I never get to tell you, you are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.”
I was losing the fight my soul waged against her. Every breath she took, another strand of my fight seemed to perish. Her words—her mind—her soft skin, it was taking over all of me.
I knew in that very moment I was so deeply in love with her, and she would be the one thing capable of my demise. The weak point in my unbreakable armor. I stared at her, and it scared me to death. It scared me to death what I wouldn’t do for her.
“I can lose everything, but not you. I can’t lose you,”
“I would destroy anyone for you…anyone including myself,” he whispered, slowly reaching out to cup the side of my neck in his hand. “Every fiber of you has desecrated me wholly.” His voice cracked hoarsely. “The buttery texture of your skin has burned me with every touch. It’s all I think about. I-I am consumed by thoughts of you day and night.”
