Two years of being good and keeping to the straight and narrow. If I’m going to jump off a bridge, it might as well be with this man.
“You think if I take you from behind that you won’t know it’s me.” He shoved into her, drawing a strangled cry from her mouth. His hand snaked around to stroke her. “Please, sweetheart. It’s my cock inside you, my hand on your clit, and it’s me who’s going to make you come. Right. Fucking. Now.”
“I want you so bad it’s killing me. But I’m not in a position to be able to take care of you how you deserve right now, with my head wound fucking me up.” His thumbs traced circles on her skin. “And even if it wasn’t…A few hours ago you were telling me that this wasn’t what you want. When you change your mind for good—and you will—I want you to know you’re not just coming down from an adrenaline high. You want me as much as I want you. It’s not circumstantial.”
Why not take your happiness where you can find it, even if it’s not forever?”
“This is blackmail.” “No, sweetheart. This is respect. I want more than sex, and I don’t know how to prove that to you other than saying no.”
“The world should change if someone like my brother dies. It should mourn and cry, and the face of it should be altered. Except none of that happened. It kept on spinning and we were expected to do the same. So we’re all in our private little hells and no one talks to anyone else and it’s just this giant clusterfuck that I’m sure a shrink would have a heyday with.”
It was official. He’d gone and fallen for Olivia Rashidi, half sister to a man who was emerging as an enemy to the family.
“You don’t want to leave. You want to be kept as much as I want to keep you.” He thrust into her, using his free hand to stroke her clit. “Which is a good goddamn thing, Olivia, because I’m never letting you go.”
“Karma is a serious bitch, because that’s the only way to explain that the one woman I fall head over heels in love with is the one I have to let go in order to keep her safe. I couldn’t deal with it if something happened to either one of you because I tried to find a way to let you stay, and failed.” He paced from one end of the room to the other. “Fuck, what am I saying? You want to go. So that makes me even more of an ass for wanting you to stay.”
“I love you.” She wanted to hug him, but she needed him to see the truth on her face. “I never planned on it, and I still can’t quite wrap my mind around it, but I love you so much it hurts.”
