“Be who you were meant to be, Tessalyn,” he said, his voice low. “My freedom depends on it.”
“You claim to hate the dark, yet the light is leaving you blind.”
You’ve forgotten, Theon said. Forgotten what? That I’ll always fight for you. You’ll forever be mine.
“Either way, there is only one instance that would allow him to put another before his Ward.”
You do not get to pick and choose the villains. You don’t get to choose the sacrifices.”
“There is a bond called a twin flame bond,” Razik said, his arm coming around Eliza’s waist and his hand resting on her hip. “The Mark is a twin flame Mark, and if both accept the Mark, it initiates something called the Trials.”
“I don’t want to be whoever I was meant to be. I want the freedom to be whoever I want to be.”
Tessa, if you think I won’t leave the meeting I’m in right now to find you and spill the blood of anyone who got in my way, you’re underestimating what I mean when I say I protect what is mine, Theon answered.
“No,” she agreed, taking a single step forward. “In this realm, I am a goddess, but to you, I am your ending.”
“She’ll get that smile on her face that she never lets anyone see. It’ll be a real one. She doesn’t do it often, so you better burn it into your memory when you see her again. It’s the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see, and I hope I’m there to witness it. Selfish, I know.”
Tell me how to love you, kitten, because I’ll pluck stars from the sky and walk through your flames. And when I’ve turned, and this bond we never got to have has faded, I’ll still choose you. I’ll still love you, and it will mean even more because we’re choosing it. We’re not being drawn to each other by some bond gifted by the Fates.”
Him looking at her with that rapture in his eyes, seeing her as someone worthy for simply existing?
“We’re meant to destroy each other,” she whispered, the words pained and agonized. “Then destroy me, little storm.”
“You are my source of everything I hate about this realm, but you are also my source of the things I crave. You are the source of what broke me, but you are also the source of what saved me. You are the source of my fury, but you are also the source of every dark desire. You are the source of what I have become, but you are also a source of complete acceptance of who that person is. You are the source of my own self-discovery, and how twisted is that, Theon?”
Their scents were intertwined. Their magic. Every part of them.
“I do understand. It’s you who doesn’t. I know you see certain behaviors as ingrained into the Fae, but the Legacy are the same. You are all so indoctrinated with the way things are, you don’t realize that they could be different.”
“He has been training you, and you, Tessalyn? You are the most powerful being in Devram. No one decides your fate but you. Do you understand me?”
Maybe the villain had fallen in love with the monster in the end.
“Tessalyn Ausra, I would sacrifice all the realms and all the stars for you. You are perfectly wild. Perfectly untamed. You were not made to be caged, nor were you made to be a sacrifice for a realm that does not deserve such a gift. You were made to live in the light. Go live, little storm.”
He was a god, but she was a Fury. Uncontrollable wrath fueled by Chaos itself. And her daughter? She was so much more.
She was Chaos.
