She enjoyed feeling his jealousy at the mere idea of someone else touching something he considered to be his. Not because it hurt him or because she thought she belonged to him in any way, but because it made her feel valued.

That was his power pushing at him to go take as she worked the buttons of the shirt. That was his dragon growling ‘mine’ as his scent covered her. Wild temptress, indeed.
Theon is the one to seek out when you need someone else to make decisions for you so you don’t have to feel the ramifications. He’s the one who’s going to take on that responsibility so you don’t have to, because he’d do anything to keep you from harm. He’s the one who will protect you from yourself. I’m going to be the one who lets you decide whether you’re going to crawl, run, or fly, and I won’t catch you unless you ask me to.” “A balance,” she muttered, shifting once more. “In all things, there must be balance.”
"I have a purpose," she said, holding his gaze, but there was a thread of defeat in her tone. "I have a destiny I cannot deny." "Says who?" "What?" "Who says you cannot deny destiny? Fuck, who says this is your destiny?" She shook her head, his large hands still framing her face. "I wouldn't expect you to understand." "You've never let us try."

“Like what you see, beautiful?” he asked knowingly, her power still seeking him out. “No.” But it came out breathy. Her eyes were still wandering, raking slowly over his body and lingering. That was definitely want and need coming down the bond. Her magic was in a vibrating frenzy he could feel.
That was evident by the way he’d let it manifest around him, and that had been…intoxicating. It was the only word she could think of to describe how Theon had looked with his darkness drifting around him, shadow wings spread wide. She hadn’t been able to tear her eyes away. And her magic? Gods, her power had wanted as much as she had, and it had tried to take.
"You don't have to do this," she murmured, unable to look at him. “I mean, I would understand—” "Is it what you need?" Theon cut in. She swallowed again, nodding once. "I promised to always give you what you need, and I also keep my promises."
“I know it goes against everything in you not to be with her, guarding her, keeping her sheltered and safe, but she needs to see for herself, Theon. All the things you’ve tried to protect her from? She needs to see to understand. Just like Axel had to,” Luka said.
“Could you be any more vague?” Theon asked, his irritation matching Razik’s. Razik shrugged. “Probably.”

“Theon, you can’t protect us all,” she said softly. “Yes, I can. I just need a little more time,” he insisted. “I think we’re living on borrowed time now, don’t you?” When he didn’t answer right away, she added, “You’re one person, Theon. You can’t save the world by yourself.

Eventually, Theon, you’re going to have to let others in on your plans because all you ever seem to do is give people more reasons not to trust you. Her words echoed in his mind. He supposed if he wanted others to trust him, he needed to learn to trust them a little bit too.

“I wasn’t implying that,” Dex argued. “I was merely stating you are being rude, and you shouldn’t be difficult.” Tessa rolled her lips, her magic doing more than stretching now. “Not be so difficult,” she repeated. “Yes,” Dex snapped. “Not be so impulsive.” “Precisely. “Not be so wild and uncontrollable.” “Yes, Tessalyn,” he sighed in irritation. “Dex, man,” Brecken warned. “This isn’t accomplishing what you think it is.”

She sent him a sharp smile. “I’m better without you, Dexter.”

If that’s your argument, then you belong to me, Theon, she retorted. I never claimed otherwise, little storm.
“It means for once in your life, Tessalyn, I need you to not focus on yourself.” Her eyes went wide, anger immediately sparking back to life. “Does that make you mad?” he went on, still holding her chin. “Piss you off a little bit? Good. It should. Because while you’ve had a shit life, those here have had it so much worse.

“No,” she agreed, taking a single step forward. “In this realm, I am a goddess, but to you, I am your ending.”
“But wishes and hope are for the innocent and the heroes, not the monsters and the villains, so I no longer bother with either.”
“We are not Legacy at all. A direct descendant of a god makes us deities,” Tristyn answered. “And before you ask, Tessa is more than that, despite being a direct descendant of Temural.”
And she’d be the one to sink a golden blade into Rordan’s heart too.

“Even the monsters and the villains need others. We’re not meant to do life alone.”
“No, but chaos can be balanced,”
“I’ll take your fury, little storm. I’ll take all your wrath and all your vengeance, but I will not accept that you are the cost for the balance,”
Three of them. It was supposed to be the three of them bound to one another. Connected in a way that was never meant to be, but couldn’t possibly be any other way.
He’d gotten in a vehicle, driven to the banks of the Wynfell River where everything always seemed to go wrong, and unleashed everything. His wrath. His frustration. His desperation.
His sorrow. His despair. His darkness had coated the ground, seeping into everything. Surrounding vegetation withered as life seeped from its leaves and roots. The earth turned grey and desolate. His vision was nothing but black, obscuring everything from the stars and the sky, to the earth and the water.
He didn’t know how long he stood there, his power pouring out of him and the world dying around him. But when his vision finally cleared, the waters before him? They were as dark and as black as the Night Waters in the eastern part of Arius Kingdom. The entirety of the Wynfell River was black, and he didn’t know what to make of that.
What did he do?
“Because she’s not supposed to exist,” Razik said plainly, and those few words made both Theon and Luka snarl in a low warning. Eliza looked between them, her head tipping to the side as she studied them, but she didn’t say anything.

“You did this to us, Dexter,” she hissed, pointing a finger at him. “You did this to us every time you spoke down to me and made me feel like an uncontrollable mess. You did this to us when you held me down under the guise of ‘fixing my mess’ instead of letting me stand back up. You continue to do this to us with every lie that spills from your lips and secret you keep from me.”
Call him out
“She’s going to be proud of you, you know,” Theon said to Roan as they continued their slow path. “She’ll get that smile on her face that she never lets anyone see. It’ll be a real one. She doesn’t do it often, so you better burn it into your memory when you see her again. It’s the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see, and I hope I’m there to witness it. Selfish, I know.”

She doesn’t need to feel them alone, Theon cut in.
Let him take care of you, Tessa. For once, just let someone care for you. Do you wish it was you instead of him? she asked, sleep clawing at her and dragging her down. Desperately. Then there was nothing but blessed darkness. And she loved it there.
“I do not steal bowls,” Razik growled. Then he added with a grumble, “This book is much larger than a bowl.” Eliza rolled her eyes as Theon said, “That does have a familiar ring to it.”

Theon wasn’t entirely sure what he was doing, but he reached out and pulled Katya into his chest, holding her tight. It wasn’t anything more than what he hoped was something comforting. He used to do the same for Axel when they were younger.
Crying
“Friends,” she finished for him. “You consider us friends.” Did he? Was that what this was? For so long, it had just been him and Luka and Axel. Everyone else was someone to be used to further his own agenda, or someone who wanted to use him to further theirs. “Yes,” he finally answered. “I think I do.”
Precious
“I know the Fates dealt you a shitty hand, Tessa,” he said. “But that doesn’t mean you have to be a shitty person because of it.”
