“He refused to give his name, but said that when you refused him, I was to tell you ‘salvation or destruction is your choice.’” Tristyn. Fucking. Blackheart.
“Are you saying the most powerful Legacy of a bloodline should have a kingdom seat?” “That is how things have always been done,” Lady Candra snapped. “You know this.” “Then why is she up there?”
“There is no way they know she’s essentially Achaz, Zinta, Arius, and Serafina. They would have already killed her,”
He was still alone. But somehow, he’d also just been in one of Tessa’s visions, and he didn’t know what the fuck to do with that.
“Our dearest Tessa bestowed that upon him,” came a male voice, and they all turned to find Tristyn. And with him was Katya.
“I made a vow to keep you safe, even at the cost of my own life.” When Tessa only blinked in surprise, he added, “It is not only my son I have endured torture for.”
Then it shattered when her voice echoed in his mind. We need you to come back. Me and our babe. Her hand slid to her stomach, resting atop it as her eyes fell closed again.
She needed no one. Kindness was never free. There was always a cost. And she was done accumulating debts.
“Xan. My name is Xan Mors. Where did you meet my other son?”
“Even the monsters and the villains need others. We’re not meant to do life alone.”
“You need to go, but be mindful of your visions. They are not all truth,”
“Tristyn knows Cienna?” Axel asked. “They’re siblings.” “Shut the fuck up.”
Tessa? Are you all right? came Theon’s reply. I am, she replied. But Luka isn’t. What happened? he demanded. She held Luka’s stare the entire time when she answered, He wants me to crawl across the floor and beg him sweetly from my knees, but he’s afraid you’ll disapprove.
Auryon glanced over at her, a look of satisfaction flashing in her eyes at whatever she saw. “There she is,” the Huntress said in approval. “The fury of your mother. Use it.” And Tessa did.
Theon had felt all of it. Every whispered word and conflicting thought. And his friend hadn’t said a single word.
And the Hunter sank a gold blade into Theon’s back. And still Luka did not come.
“Tessalyn Ausra, I would sacrifice all the realms and all the stars for you. You are perfectly wild. Perfectly untamed. You were not made to be caged, nor were you made to be a sacrifice for a realm that does not deserve such a gift. You were made to live in the light. Go live, little storm.”
Because he was a god, but she was a Fury. And her daughter? She was Chaos.
